About
Who am I?
My name is Matthew and I'm a digital artist who loves drawing, programming, music composition and worldbuilding. As you've likely figured out by the time you landed on the home page, I absolutely love playing with vivid and stylized cartoons & designs. This website is a pet project that I'm making out of a desire to craft something unique that I can't find anywhere else (and hopefully, neither can you!).
I’ve always doodled and sketched in notebooks since I was young, but I never considered myself an artist for most of my life—not until recently. I only began to take drawing seriously a few years ago, long past the “expected” age when most people start. Back then, all I had was a pencil, an eraser, and a mouse for MS Paint.!
I'll be honest: learning anything as complex and time-consuming as art (even if it's just cartoons/manga etc.) is a total PAIN as an adult. Everything I made from the start of my practice just sucked, and even a little beyond that. There were many times where I questioned my time spent on my practice when I wasn't seeing the results I wanted. I even thought about quitting when it got unbearably frustrating—but somehow, I always returned to drawing, inking, and painting, whether it was Nojuka or just a random scene.
Why was I so determined to keep going, despite being so bad in the beginning? Back then, I didn’t know. But now it’s clear: I wanted to bring to life something that only existed in my mind.
Think of it like this: Have you ever had a one-of-a-kind idea or scene in your head that you really wanted to become real, but life wouldn't allow? You're so certain that, if you could free it from your mind and show it off in any way, it would impress people all over the world, because there is truly nothing else like it. You might have had tens, hundreds, if not thousands of these visions bouncing through your head, but have no gateway to release them outside. What if there was a skill, a 'physical gateway' if you will, that could do just that? What if you could build those scenes in the real world, for a real audience to experience? That is what keeps me coming back to the blank canvas, even if what I make next will not be some masterpiece!
Oh, um... sorry Petty. Here's the TL;DR:
Name's Matthew. I dabble in everything. This is my personal website and pet project: NOJUKA CRIMSON MECHA FISHER!
